Brightness

The brightness in your warehouse is measured with a lux-meter and it is recommended to aim for minimum 150 lux in the aisles and 250 lux in open areas. Color Temperature

The colour temperature of your lights is also important. You want them have a cool colour temperature because they will be less harsh on your eyes. The colour temperature of LED lights is measured in Kelvin (K). A cool colour temperature is around 4000-5000K, while a warm colour temperature is around 3000K. You want to keep this temperature close as possible to 3000K to assure in your warehouse a productive atmosphere.

Beam Angle

The beam angle is the angle at which the light is emitted from the light fixture. This can be adjusted with lenses that direct the light to the floor. As a rule of thumb, you should have lights with 60 deg in the aisles and 120 deg in the open areas.

Energy efficiency

The efficiency of your lights is important. You want lights that consume as little energy as possible so you can save money on your utility bills. LED lights are the most efficient lights available on the market, and they can save you up to 75% on your energy costs. Energy efficiency for these lights is measured in Lumen/Watt and for high bays, you will normally see ranges between 100lm/w and 200lm/w, where the latter is the most energy-efficient. Most LED lights have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, which is much longer than the lifespan of traditional incandescent lights. This means that you won’t have to worry about replacing your lights often, which saves you time and money.
